Tag Teaming

Yan has an old ipad that is supposed to be used for school. However, she and Mady want to use it for looking up Barney and Frozen clips on YouTube (which I don't love). Yan came to me asking to use it this morning and I said no. A few minutes later Mady came in with the iPad in her hands and a smile on her face. She then said, "Let's try again!"

One way to learn the life skills

Mady has learned how to lock herself in the bedroom. So Yan has now learned how to unlock the door with a screwdriver in order to "check" on her sister (which results in Mady screaming). Who knew you could obtain so many life skills just by having a younger sibling?

Yan and the puppets

Yan has really blossomed over this past year. She went from being afraid of the music because of the volume at church to loving it and helping with puppets when we've met at our friends' house. I love to see her expressing her joy. Thank you Hollis Family and Hope at the Refuge for giving her a place to plug in!

My World

One of Mady's favorite dvd's is called "ToddWorld". In the beginning he says, "I'm Todd and this is my world." This morning I overheard Mady talking on her pretend phone. She said , "Hi Todd, this is Mady and this is MY world". It's nice that she's finally getting some self-confidence! 

Today's Reading Time

All of us were sitting at the table working on reading. We were only focusing on four words: cat, fat, sat & fast. I set them both up for complete success and held up the word "cat". I eagerly anticipated praising them. I said, "what word is it?" Yan went completely blank and wouldn't say anything. Mady screamed her answer, "JUNGLE"! Homeschooling mama fail, it's time to be done for the day!
